Dear PRISM and WinPRISM Users,
You are cordially invited to attend Spectrum 2012, our sixth annual users’ meeting. The previous five have provided an opportunity for learning, sharing, looking at what's new and what lies ahead, and letting your voice be heard. Spectrum provides a forum where you can interact with other users as well as get to know the people who write, test, and support your bookstore systems. A wide variety of sessions are planned.
Dates: April 17 – April 19
Location: The Embassy Suites, Lincoln, Nebraska
Fee: $600
Register: Online
Hotel: Click the link provided or call the Embassy Suites Lincoln at (402) 474-1111.
Spectrum begins Tuesday at 8:30 and concludes Thursday at noon. Bonus sessions begin Thursday at 1:00 and end Friday at noon.
Your registration fee of $600 covers:
- Two-and-a-half days of educational sessions
- All materials
- Tuesday and Wednesday lunches
- Tuesday evening dinner and activity
- Wednesday dinner
The registration fee for the bonus sessions is either $150 (ICS) or $200 (WebPRISM), which covers all materials and Thursday lunch. Dinner Thursday night is on your own. You’ll find descriptions of the sessions in the schedule on Thursday and Friday. Be sure to sign up for both days, if you’re planning on attending.
We have negotiated a group rate of $119 per night with Embassy Suites (excluding taxes and fees). This rate will be available until March 26, 2012, or until the group block is sold out. Please keep this in mind as you firm up your plans. If you reserve your room over the phone, be sure to mention “Nebraska Book Company’s Spectrum 2012 Meeting.” Breakfast and social hour are included in the room price.
We are offering educational sessions on a wide variety of topics. At the Road Map session we’ll review the road we’ve traveled over the past year and what lies ahead. At focus groups you’ll have the opportunity to exchange ideas with other users and to let us know what features and functions you’d like to see in the system. If you rent books or if you’re thinking about renting books in the future, you’ll want to attend one or more of the sessions on rentals, including the session on the NMRP (Neebo managed Rental Program) versus NBC Partnership and the hands-on ones for your backroom system. Study the schedule, look at a sample itinerary for a store manager, textbook buyer, etc., then put together your personal agenda. Save it and print it once it’s finalized.
This year the PAC meeting will be held Wednesday afternoon at 3:00 and be followed immediately by the Round Tables. Remember that the PAC meeting or “PRISM Advisory Council” meeting is for ALL users (PRISM, WinPRISM and WebPRISM). During this user-only time the 12 representatives on the PAC will bring questions and issues to you that arose during the pre-Spectrum board meeting and gathering your feedback that will be reported back to NBC after Spectrum.
We understand you have a budget and travel funds may be tight. Because we think you have much to gain by attending Spectrum, we want to make it as easy as possible on your store’s pocketbook. The registration fee is the same as it has been for the past five years. You can use NBC Dollars to pay the registration fee. And you can use your rebate to cover lodging and airfare. If interested in having your rebate cover either travel or lodging or both, arrangements must be made by NBC. Please contact me at spectrum@nebook.com, if interested. If you have any questions regarding your NBC Rewards, please contact Sue Stroud at 800-869-0366 Ext. 5544.
Many of you have found attending a users’ meeting to be an essential part of maintaining your investment in your bookstore’s inventory management system. We believe Spectrum offers tremendous value to your store. We hope you can join us.
